Now tell us a bit about yourself...
Um, ok. i still live in ottawa. i finished my BA and
my MA at Carleton University, and am currently doing my PhD in English
Literature at the University of Ottawa. my bro' bought a house out here
in the boonies, Orleans (about 15 min's from downtown), so me and Genny
are living with him for cheap rent.
I still play guitar lots, tho'
i am perpetually busy it seems. i quite literally been reading and writing
all day, week after week, month after month, for about the last six years.
i need a long holiday in a big, bad way -- but it's not coming any time
soon. I have at least another three years of school ahead of me. (i make
money as a student now, however, so it's not that bad -- just a lot of
work.)
i still see some manitouwadge folks pretty regularly here in Ottawa, like
Brian C. and Jenny Mc., Randy Mc. and Zoe A. (on occasion), Darrren and
many of those other crazy Nelsons. i still talk regularly with the good
chums, too, like Darren and Rene (chums: sorry, i just HAD to use that
word!) and of course we party it up like mad at christmas. Russell, however,
has given up on talking. Shame on you, Uter my man!
What else? school has turned
me into an even bigger alcoholic than i ever was. and that's saying something.
i drink less since rene's moved, and that's a good and bad thing: i save
money and the liver, but live a little less. i await your return, rene,
with both glee and anxiety for my health.
Um, i assume that most people
reading this will know or presume to know the rest about me, so that's
about it. yea, so peace and all that. i've never been very good at goodbyes..
(for my photo, see the archives, where i'm sure to be found
squeezing rene's face (for some unknown reason) or seemingly makin out
with darren. i can only appeal to the persuasive power of far too much
alcohol.)

Half-way spot near the ski hill, age 15. absolutely
debilitating. oh man, i'm still trying to come close to that one.
Who do/did you mostly hang out with back in the wadge?
An-toon-ez, Darren, Russell, Wade, Bubba (now know
as Big Papa), Pat, and oh you know who you are. we had good times: dranks
lots, jammed lots, waxed philosophica lots.
Favorite place to hang out in the wadge?
Strangely, it's either my basement -- Rene's nostalgia
fuels that one -- or Darren's rec room (also known as the Manitouwadge
Motel Bar).

very-large-secretary-who-wore-way-too-tight-spandex. ew.

Mr Babe, absolutely. he knew the power of words.

No, and i think i'd remember that sort of thing. i
remember a few people wanting to but who wouldn't or couldn't. ah, manitouwadge,
where the night's not really a night until you try to get into a fight
to sooth your wounded pride (most often wounded BECAUSE you live in manitouwadge).

Two. i have my old yellow Ibanez electric, of course,
and i just got a new Takemine acoustic. guitars are about all the responsibility
i'm ready for.
Which closed shop downtown do you miss the most? (ie: The Chicken Roost.)
"Les's affordable foods" just because of
how funny i find that name now. "LESS affordable foods". oh,
it's so rich, like postmodern wordplay or something.
Favorite thing to do when it's snowing?
Oh dude, making that crazy jump off the back of my
fence into the snow banks (backwards of course). or possibly shooting
hugh snowballs at the cormier's house at timed intervals. more proud mem-or-ies.
A train leaves White River travelling at 120km/hour, and a BMG bus leaves
Manitouwadge going 100km/hour. How longwill it take Darren's dad to smoke
a pack of cigarettes?
About an hour. i remember Lorne smoked ten cigarettes
on a trip from the wadge to marathon. he literally lit one up with the
other.

I don't recall at all. i'm so supressed.
Favorite song heard at a school dance?
Um, i dunno. i remember dancing to a No Doubt song
(whom i normally don't like) -- "don't speak" i think -- with
a neato gal. rage's "freedom" also sticks out, but for a different
reason. darren got up and starting head-bangin and making an ass of himself
and having a great time doing it. most thought he was just fuckin crazy,
of course, but they were (and probably still are) stupid anyway. darren
tears down your walls of safety and sanctity with one crazy gesture, one
seemingly out-of-place remark. well, when he's sober.

Skates. i should have played hockey longer cause i

What makes this question great is that there are only
a very few people who have access to this obscure and highly-referential

I don't remember a lot of fights, although i know they
happened. the only one i can remember right now happened while i was in
Catholic School: Trevor D. vs. Dwart A. i don't remember much about it
tho'.

Russell's dad, mike the cop (fav.). one christmas vacation
comment i remember: "you tell anyone down there i'm baking muffins
and i'll fuckin' shoot you." there was an asshole cop, i remember,
who semi-busted me and darren because we were dumping a case of empties,
but i can't remember his name.
